Why are photos so important?

Photographs are an art form and a creative expression. Our brain starts to process pictures/images since the day we are born. We see all kind of images around us such as faces, sceneries, animals, buildings, etc. Pictures record historical and important events and incidents. There is probably nothing the human brain is more sensitive to than the images we see but cannot recollect the memories, hence we need photographs. We sometimes react and respond to what we see without realizing or analyzing the consequences. Pictures work like icons or a shortcut that access to our memory and trigger our feelings and emotions as if it is part of our auto reflexes. The old saying "A picture is worth a thousand words" still holds true until today.

A handwritten letter, note and postcard are very dear gifts that keep on giving. It represents a keepsake of personal feelings exchanged between two individuals. We collect old postcards & photographs, just to hold on to a bit of the past.

In the digital age of text messaging and rushed emails, a good old-fashioned letter, especially a handwritten one, is a rare and special treat. Traditional letters tend to be more thoughtful and original than email correspondence and twitter updates. Email, Facebook and Twitter are great ways to send quick and instant updates to people. But receiving a letter in the mail is almost like having a good friend stop by the house for coffee.

Letter writing is a lost art and we should bring it back in style. We've found that physically putting pen to paper is a much more intimate writing experience than typing out an email. We've said things in letters that we're afraid to say anywhere else. Picking up an old letter from a friend or loved one and recognizing that person's handwriting brings you that much closer to the past. Things we write in cyberspace are so easily deleted and forgotten ... buried by the next 30 e-mails we receive.

In this day and age, a handwritten note is something that people really feel is special. Many people have saved notes and letters. It's like part of that person is still there with you. There's something very mysterious and romantic about saving your letters in a special box or secret place, knowing that some day they will be rediscovered.
